The schooner yacht Malabar X , designed by John Alden ,was originally built in 1930 by Hodgdon Bros. in Boothbay Harbor, Maine. She was victorious in the Bermuda Cup Race in both 1930 and 1932 with John Alden at the helm. After being damaged in Hurricane Bob in1989 she was purchased by her current owner/ captain, Doug Hazlitt. After being trucked to Ithaca N.Y. Dennis Montgomery, owner of Cayuga Wooden Boatworks and his able crew began her full restoration. Three years later Malabar X was launched and ready for her new life on Seneca Lake.

Malabar X is available for daysails in Watkins Glen, N.Y.. in the summer months and travels south for the winter months ready for public and private charters. Doug and crew have sailed in the Great Chesapeake Bay Schooner Race ,winning first in class in 2004. Malabar X Œs USCG certified crew are knowledgeable in both the waters she sails and the history of the vessel. A charter aboard this classic racing schooner offers each passenger a turn at the helm, a chance to trim the sails or the opportunity to sit back and relax. . Malabar X is available for public and private charters which we can design around each groups needs whether its for training purposes or just for fun. Malabar X¹s grace and beauty would be an asset to any port. We are equipped to carry 30 people on our daysail charters and can accommodate 4 people for a private Bunk and Board Cruise.
